The Embury Hideaway is the ground-floor apartment in a Victorian built over a century ago, in the National Historic District that defines Ocean Grove — renovated with a modern kitchen and new beds, but the hardwood floors, high ceilings and covered front porch are original.
Two bedrooms — a queen and a double, the double with its own desk and office chair for anyone who needs to get an email out — one full bathroom, an open living room and kitchen, and in-unit washer and dryer. Window AC units keep the bedrooms cool; there’s no central air, which is worth knowing on an August afternoon.
Out back, the patio is exclusively yours: Adirondack chairs around a gas fire pit, a dining set under a navy umbrella, string lights for the evening. (The propane grill on the patio is shared with the upstairs unit — you’ll have full access during your stay, just plan to clean up after.)
And then the two towns start. Twelve minutes on foot is Ocean Grove’s own beach and boardwalk — quiet, Victorian, no arcades. Five minutes the other way, over the Wesley Lake footbridges, is Asbury Park — Cookman Avenue, the rebuilt boardwalk, Convention Hall, the whole late-night version of the Jersey Shore. You get to pick which one, most nights.

Ocean Grove’s beach requires a seasonal badge. Four live in the apartment, along with beach chairs and a rolled umbrella stored on-property — no stop at the badge booth on your first morning.
Two towns, one address
Twelve minutes to Ocean Grove’s own quiet beach. A short walk the other way, over the footbridges, to Asbury Park’s boardwalk and Cookman Ave. Most Jersey Shore stays give you one town — this one gives you both.
The fire pit patio
A private patio with Adirondack chairs around a gas fire pit, a dining set for four, and string lights for the evening. This is the room without walls, and it’s exclusively yours.

Beach chairs and a rolled umbrella are stored on-property. Load up, walk down, walk back — no roof rack full of folding chairs.
A kitchen you’d actually cook in
Gas range with stainless hood, granite counters, full-size fridge, dishwasher, and a coffee maker with a bean grinder and complimentary local beans. Cook a real meal or just grab coffee before the beach.

The second bedroom has a dedicated desk and office chair alongside the double bed — built for remote work, or the guest who needs their own space.

Ocean Grove sits between its own quiet beach and the whole of Asbury Park, with Bradley Beach, Spring Lake and Belmar all a short drive south — which is why guests keep telling us they barely moved the car.
Ocean Grove Beach & Boardwalk
The reason you came, and the whole point of the four beach badges already in the house. A quiet, family stretch of sand with a boardwalk running along it — no arcades, no bars, none of Asbury's noise. Ocean Grove's own beach is the calm half of the two-town pitch.
The Great Auditorium & Ocean Grove Historic District
Ocean Grove is a Victorian tent-colony town that never quite left the 1870s, built around a 6,000-seat wooden auditorium with an organ worth hearing. The whole National Historic District — gingerbread porches, tent platforms, and a town that banned Sunday driving into the 1970s — is a five-minute walk from the front door.
Asbury Park & Convention Hall
Where the night goes. Cross the Wesley Lake footbridges and you're on Cookman Avenue — restaurants, bars, the rebuilt boardwalk, and Convention Hall anchoring the north end. The host's own listing puts it five minutes from the front door; close enough to walk to dinner, far enough that Ocean Grove stays the quiet half.
Bradley Beach
The next town south and the low-key alternative on a busy Ocean Grove weekend — a straightforward Jersey Shore beach town with its own boardwalk, its own badge booth, and a lot less to navigate than Asbury Park.
Spring Lake
The elegant one, a bit further down the coast. Two miles of non-commercial boardwalk with no arcades and no bars on it, a lake with swans, and the kind of Victorian porches people stop to photograph.
Belmar
A busier, boardwalk-and-bar-scene beach town a few miles south — good for a livelier night out or the marina at sunset, and named directly in the host's own guide to the area.
