The Apartment

Two towns.
One quiet apartment.

The Embury Retreat is a second-floor, two-bedroom apartment on a quiet street in Ocean Grove — walkable to a beach that still closes its boardwalk to cars, and just as walkable to Asbury Park’s restaurants when you want the other kind of night.

Both bedrooms have their own character: a queen room with a closet and reading corner, and a second room with a trundle daybed that opens out to two twin mattresses. One bathroom, an open kitchen with quartz counters and a gas range, and a dedicated workspace with an electric standing desk and monitor — three guests have specifically mentioned getting real work done at that desk.

Central air and heat, in-unit washer and dryer, keyless entry with your own keypad code, and a front porch with seating for four for the mornings you’d rather not go anywhere yet.

Then there’s the patio — new pavers, a propane fire pit, Edison lights, and greenery around the edges. The propane grill is shared with the apartment downstairs, and you’ll have full access to it during your stay. From there it’s a 10 to 15 minute walk to Ocean Grove’s beach and the historic Great Auditorium, or cross the footbridges over the lake and you’re in Asbury Park — Convention Hall, Cookman Ave, and the train station guests keep walking to instead of driving.

“We would recommend this place for several reasons – not only was it clean and comfortable but it was well equipped with a wide range of things that we needed for our stay. We appreciated that the cupboard was stocked with coffee and tea as well as cooking basics […]. Cody was always friendly and immediately responsive to every enquiry we made. We walked to the beach every day and enjoyed Ocean Grove and the surrounding area very much.”

10-15 minute walk

The reason you came. A quieter, no-alcohol beach town's stretch of sand, with the historic boardwalk running along it. Four seasonal Ocean Grove badges and towels are already in the apartment, so there's no queue at the badge booth on your first morning.

The Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove, New Jersey
10-20 minute walk

The pavilion at Avon-by-the-Sea, New Jersey
8-12 minute drive

Avon-by-the-Sea

“I own this apartment and I run it myself — which means when you message, you get me, not a queue. I stock it the way I’d want it if I were the one arriving after a long drive: badges and towels ready to go, coffee and spices in the cupboard, the fire pit ready to light. Ocean Grove and Asbury Park are my home market. If you want to know where to eat on a Tuesday in September, just ask.”
